Checked out the new tech kiosk at the Westgate Mall and their 'review' tablets are just looping ads

Yeah, the "review" tablets are a joke. My buddy tried to leave a star rating on one at the food court last week. It just played a video for a phone plan, then went back to the home screen. He tapped the screen like five times, same ad every time. Felt like he was stuck in some weird commercial.

That actually sounds like a broken kiosk, @christopher67. The ones at our mall food court just show a star rating screen, no ads. His buddy probably got stuck on a demo unit or something.

You know, that "stuck in some weird commercial" feeling is exactly what I've been noticing everywhere lately. It's like every little thing we interact with in public is trying to sell us something now, even the stuff that's supposed to be neutral or helpful. Gas station pumps blast ads at you before they let you pay, bathroom mirrors show you commercials at the airport (yeah, that's a real thing), and now review kiosks are doing it too. It's this quiet creep where nothing is allowed to just do its job anymore without trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of you first. Honestly, it makes me feel like I'm the product in every single interaction, not the customer.
