Warning: I was wrong about using a heat gun for finish removal
Always said it was a hack job that would scorch the wood. Then I saw a guy in Boise do a perfect job on a 1920s oak dresser, using a specific low setting and a wide scraper. Anyone have a good scraper brand they trust for this?

Totally agree @alexj99, it's like half of life's headaches are just bad tools and stubborn opinions.

Man, that feeling is the worst, right? You swear something is a total hack move, then you see it done right and your whole view flips. Happened to me with a paint stripping method last year (felt like a real dummy). For scrapers, the Bahco ones are pretty solid for that kind of controlled work, in my experience. The wider blade helps a ton to avoid gouging. Just goes to show the right tool and technique changes everything.

Totally agree about the right tool changing the game. It's crazy how a simple thing like blade width can turn a messy job into a clean one. Makes you wonder what other tasks we're doing the hard way.
