TIL about 'blush' in lacquer finishes the hard way
I was finishing a maple dresser in my garage last month when the humidity spiked overnight. The next morning, the top coat had this milky white haze, which is called blush. I spent two whole days trying to fix it by sanding and recoating, but it kept coming back. Finally, a guy at the hardware store said to lightly mist the piece with denatured alcohol before the final coat, and that actually worked. Has anyone else found a better fix for this?

That denatured alcohol trick saved me too.

Works on old price stickers too.
