Realized I was undercharging by $15 an hour after a client casually mentioned their last freelancer's rate

I was talking to a repeat client last week about their old designer who moved away, and they said they paid her $85 an hour. I've been charging $70 for the same work for 2 years. Has anyone else found out their rates were low through a random comment like that?

Did you read that survey from earlier this year that said most freelancers are actually undercharging by like 20-30%? Sounds like you got a REAL wake-up call.

Nah, sometimes low rates just help you build that client base first lol.
