Tried two different ways to pack sand for a core box last month

We were making a big pump housing and I used the old hand rammer method on one half and a pneumatic vibrator on the other. The vibrator side came out way smoother with zero voids, while the hand packed side needed a ton of patching. Anyone have a go-to brand for those small pneumatic tools that holds up to the heat?

Man, that's a classic foundry story right there. Totally feel your pain on the hand ramming side, it's a back breaker for sure. We had a similar fight with some big valve bodies last year. Ended up with a couple of Chicago Pneumatic vibrators that have been pretty tough, even around our bigger flask work. The heat really does a number on the seals if you get a cheap one.

Wait, Chicago Pneumatic for foundry vibrators? @elliotb57 you sure about that? I thought they stopped making those years ago.
