I've been using the same green sand mix for 5 years, but a new guy pointed out my moisture test was off.
He showed me how my squeeze test was too light, which explained why my cores kept crumbling. Anyone else have a simple trick for getting that moisture right every time?

Built a shelf once with sand in the mix, whole thing fell apart.

Moisture is everything with green sand. A bad squeeze test will wreck your whole day. I keep a small sample of perfect sand in a jar. Before a big pour, I compare my batch to that jar by feel. It's a quick visual and touch check that never lets me down.
