A simple clay tweak cleared up my casting flaws
I was working on a small bronze statue in my garage... the details were always blurry in the finish. After some trial and error, I added more clay to my molding sand, just a bit extra. The difference was night and day... sharp edges and smooth surfaces all around. It's a basic tip, but it really saved my project. Might be worth a shot if you're dealing with similar issues.

That clay ratio is everything

Actually, the ratio is just one part of the puzzle. It's more about the whole mixing and kneading process getting that texture just right. You can have a perfect ratio but still mess it up if you don't work it long enough or let it dry wrong. Seen too many projects crack because folks focused only on the numbers and not the feel of the stuff.

Exactly, it's like baking where perfect measures mean nothing without the right technique. Maybe that's why @jessicajohnson's perfect ratio can still fail if the hands-on work gets skipped.
