Shoutout to the local flower market over the big wholesale catalog

I needed peonies for a wedding order in two days and the catalog said they were out of stock. I drove down to the city market at 5am and not only found them, but the stems were twice as long and half the price. The vendor even threw in some extra greenery when I told him what it was for. Has anyone else found that skipping the middleman is just better for certain flowers?

My cousin runs a small bakery and she swears by the farmer's market for her lavender. Says the bunches are way fresher than what her supplier can get.

Way fresher" sounds about right, @leelewis. I tried growing my own lavender once for baking. My cookies tasted like dirt and sadness. Guess I'll stick to the market too.
