Just realized I was drowning my roses instead of helping them thrive
I've been a florist for 5 years and always thought more water = happier flowers. Last Tuesday I had a shipment of 200 stems of roses that looked totally sad after 3 days, even with fresh cuts and clean buckets. A wholesale rep from the local flower market happened to see me dumping water and told me roses actually drink less than you think, and too much water rots the stem base faster. I tried his trick of only filling the bucket 3 inches deep and within 24 hours those same roses perked right up. Anyone else have a basic care tip that took way too long to learn?

Wait, you really just need 3 inches of water for roses?

3 inches of water" yeah but that's PER WEEK, not just once and done.
