Had a chat with my plumber that changed how I think about flower food
He was fixing a sink and saw my big tub of floral preservative powder on the counter. He goes, 'You know, that stuff is basically just sugar and acid, right? Like a fancy lemonade for flowers.' I laughed, but then I looked it up and he's not totally wrong, lmao. It made me wonder if I'm overthinking the 'special' mixes. Has anyone else ever tried making their own basic version for shop use?

That "fancy lemonade" idea makes me wonder if a tiny bit of bleach would help too, to keep the water clean.

Yeah the bleach trick is legit. I add like two drops per gallon to my bird bath water and it stays clear for weeks. Just gotta make sure it's plain unscented bleach.
