Was sure that new click-lock vinyl plank was just a headache waiting to happen

Got a job for a whole basement in a new build over in Springfield. Builder spec'd this specific floating floor. I figured the locking system would fail with any moisture shift. Spent two days putting it down, left a big gap at the walls like they said. Came back after a full summer. Not a single buckle or peaking. Floor looks perfect. The engineering on that stuff is better than I gave it credit for. Anyone else have a product they were wrong about?

Yeah, it's the cheap stuff that gets me. I wrote off all laminate as garbage after seeing the old stuff bubble up. Then my buddy put some in his mudroom, the kind from a big box store. Three winters of wet boots later, it still looks fine. Makes you question the whole "you get what you pay for" rule. Sometimes the budget option is just engineered for a different problem.

Man, it's funny how often the stuff we're sure will fail just quietly works. Makes you wonder what else we're wrong about.

Used to be the same way honestly. I was Dead Set against those peel and stick backsplash tiles. Thought they'd peel off the first time the kitchen got steamy. Then my sister put them in her rental and I swear they're STILL up after two years. No curling edges, no nothing. Makes me think I'm just a snob about things I've never Actually tried.
