Shoutout to the $400 moisture meter I thought was a waste

I used to think my old pin meter was fine, but a failed glue-down job in a basement last month changed my mind. The new one caught a 5% difference in subfloor moisture that the old one missed. What's your go-to tool for catching problems before they start?

A good infrared camera is my secret weapon. It shows cold spots behind walls where insulation failed, or heat trails from electrical issues you can't see yet. Saved me from a major mold repair by spotting a damp patch that hadn't even stained the drywall.

Totally get that. I mean, my moisture meter has caught so many leaks before they became huge problems. It's just this cheap little thing but it gives me peace of mind.
