Rant: I was cutting my own underlayment for a vinyl plank job in a Denver condo and it clicked.
I was trimming a piece of foam underlayment with my utility knife, scoring it a bunch of times like I always have, and the homeowner asked why I didn't just use a straightedge and cut it clean in one pass. I tried it on the next piece and it was way faster and left a perfect edge, no ragged bits. How many other little habits do we all have that are just making the job harder?

Wait, you were scoring it multiple times?

Yeah, had to run the numbers a few different ways. Tried weighting the cost factor higher than the time estimate, then flipped it. The second pass caught a budget hole the first one missed.
