My boss told me to never use that cheap adhesive on concrete slabs

He said it would fail in under a year, and sure enough, I got a callback on a job in Phoenix after about eight months. The vinyl plank in the living room started buckling at the seams because the glue gave up. I had to rip it all out and redo the whole floor with the proper primer and adhesive. Anyone else had a product fail that fast on a slab?

Yeah, that cheap stuff is basically glorified wallpaper paste for concrete. Learned that lesson the hard way on my own sunroom floor a while back. The whole thing turned into a wavy mess before the first summer was even over. Now it's burned into my brain to never skip the primer and the good adhesive, even if the budget is tight. That callback and redo is a brutal way to learn, but it sure sticks with you.

My buddy had the same thing happen in his garage workshop. He used a bargain bucket adhesive on the concrete and stuck down some of those foam floor tiles. They started sliding around and coming up in chunks after just a few months of Arizona heat. It was a total mess. @patricia_chen67 is right, that cheap glue just turns to dust. He ended up having to scrape it all off with a putty knife, which took forever.
