Just lost a full day's pay on a bad moisture reading
Had a job last week in a basement, used my old pin meter and it said the slab was fine. Spent the whole day laying down that new glue-down LVP. Came back the next morning and the planks were already cupping at the edges. Brought in a newer meter and the moisture was way over spec. Now I'm ripping it all up and eating the cost of the material and that day's labor. Anyone got a brand of moisture meter they actually trust?

Ever think those old pin meters were good enough? I used to, until a bad reading cost me a whole floor. Now I only use a Wagner pinless meter, it's been solid for years.

After my old pin meter failed me on a concrete slab, I switched to a Wagner pinless. The key for me is taking multiple readings across the whole area, not just a couple spots. It's saved me from a few bad pours since then.

What happened to my buddy's crew? They had a pin meter give a dry reading on a concrete subfloor. They installed a whole gym floor, a big expensive one. Two days later the boards swelled up like crazy. They had to tear it all out. Now they only use a pinless meter and check it in a dozen spots.
