Broke a drill bit trying to fix a stuck window in my grandma's old farmhouse near Topeka

After snapping that bit on a 50 year old sash, I realized I should have just squirted some WD-40 in the track first instead of forcing it... anyone else have a go-to trick for old wooden windows that won't budge?

And hitting it with a hair dryer first can loosen old paint without cracking the glass.

WD40 never hurt anyone. Also try tapping the frame gently with a rubber mallet before you start drilling.
