PSA: My darkroom disaster with expired fixer from 3 years ago

Last month I pulled out a box of fixer I bought on clearance back in 2021 and figured it was fine. Mixed it up, developed 4 rolls of Tri-X from my trip to Portland, and every single frame came out milky and ruined. The fixer had crystallized at the bottom of the bottle even though it was sealed. Anyone else get burned by old chemicals from the back of the closet?

Bought 4 year old fixer once and ended up with what looked like milk instead of negatives. Lesson learned: if it was on sale that deep there's probably a reason.

Bought some cheap developer once and it smelled like old socks, never again.
