Warning: a bad soil test cost me over $800 in concrete

I started a big vinyl fence job in Springfield and the client said they had a soil test from last year. I trusted it and set the posts. Two weeks later, half of them were leaning because the ground was way softer than the report said. I had to pull them all, get a proper test done, and re-pour the concrete for eight posts. The new concrete and extra labor ate up more than $800 from my profit. Some guys say you should always do your own test, even if the client has one. Others say that's a waste of time and money if the paperwork looks good. What's your rule for checking soil before you pour?

I mean, this is why I double-check everything myself now.

Used to trust client reports until a similar mess taught me to always verify.

What did the bad report say that was so wrong about the ground?
