TIL a 3-inch post hole digger can save a whole job in wet clay
We were setting posts in heavy rain near the river in Augusta, and the auger just gummed up solid. Switched to the manual digger, cleared the muck by hand, and got the line perfectly straight again. Anyone have a better trick for wet clay besides just waiting it out?

Wait, you were setting posts in heavy rain on purpose? That's the part that gets me. Why not just wait for a break in the weather? I can't imagine trying to get a line straight while everything is just turning into a slippery mess. The clay alone is bad enough without adding a downpour into the mix.
