Three days wasted on a gate that sagged because of one bad hinge

Last week I hung a 6 foot gate at a job out near Elm Street. Leveled it perfect, set the posts in concrete, everything looked solid. Third day I come back and the gate is dragging two inches off the ground because I used a cheap hinge from the hardware store. Anyone else had a gate fail from a hinge that looked fine but bent under real weight?

Oh man, that's rough. A buddy of mine had almost the exact same thing with a fence gate he put up in his backyard. Used those silver hinges from the big box store, and by the second week the top hinge had bent so bad the gate was scraping the patio. Ended up having to take the whole thing down and replace both hinges with the heavy duty black ones that have the roller bearings. Cost him an extra Saturday morning and a trip back to the lumber yard.

Read somewhere those silver hinges are just stamped metal, not forged.
