Serious question, has anyone else given up on the 'one man post driver' for anything over 4x4 posts?

I used to think those manual drivers were fine for small jobs, but a project in Austin with 6x6 cedar posts changed my mind. After three posts, my shoulder felt like I'd been in a fight. Rented a gas powered driver for the next day and finished the whole line before lunch. What do you guys use for the big stuff?

Oh man, for real. Tried to drive some 4x6 treated posts with one of those manual drivers last fall and it was a joke. Felt like I was just giving the post a bunch of angry love taps, lol. My buddy had to come over with his tractor and a post pounder attachment. We had those last ten posts done in like twenty minutes. Never going back to the one man driver for anything bigger than a garden stake.

Saw a contractor friend swear by a skid steer mounted driver for a long fence line with 8x8 treated posts. He said the one man driver just bounced off and wasted a whole morning. Ended up using a hydraulic unit that punched them in like butter.
