Had a job in Seattle where the client wanted a fence on a 45 degree slope, figured out a trick with the post hole digger.

What was the trick with the post hole digger? That slope sounds brutal.

Wait, dig sideways? On a slope? That sounds like a recipe for a dirt avalanche right into your boots. You'd spend more time shoveling the collapse back out than actually making a hole. Gravity's gonna pull everything straight down the hill, not neatly into your little side trench.
