A client's offhand comment about my gate latch changed my whole approach
They said 'It feels cheap, like it'll break if a kid leans on it,' which made me realize I was using the same basic latch on every job. Now I always offer the heavy-duty option from Ameristar, even if it costs fifteen bucks more. Anyone else get specific feedback that made you upgrade a standard part?

Fifteen bucks more? That's it? A parent watching their kid fall through a busted gate is going to cost a lot more than that, so it's wild that some guys would cheap out over pocket change. @thomas83 is right that a single comment can change your whole view. But I'm more shocked that people are still using those thin latches on a fence where kids play. That's not just cutting corners, that's asking for a call back or worse.

Used to think it was fine, but that kind of comment makes you see things differently.
