Thrift store jacket led me down a patchwork rabbit hole
I grabbed this faded denim jacket from a thrift spot the other day, and it was pretty rough with a couple of rips and faded marks. Instead of tossing it, I dug out some leftover fabric scraps from my bin, mostly cotton prints from old projects. I spent an evening cutting shapes and hand-stitching them over the torn areas, mixing in some bright threads for extra pop. It was kinda frustrating at first because my stitches kept coming loose, but I watched a few videos and figured it out. Now the jacket looks totally custom, and I get compliments every time I wear it out lmao. It's got me thinking about trying more upcycle stuff with other clothes I have lying around. Has anyone else done something similar with their old gear? I'm curious what fabrics or techniques you guys like for this kind of project.

A friend used iron-on interfacing behind her patches to stop fraying, a total game-changer.

Have you tried that on denim jackets too?
