Rant: that $200 'organic cotton' fabric I ordered online was a total scam
I bought this beautiful organic cotton from some Instagram ad for a summer dress project, paid $200 for enough to make two dresses, and it shrunk so bad after one gentle wash that it barely fits a child. The color faded to this weird grey too, so now I'm stuck with expensive rags. Has anyone found a reliable online source for cotton that doesn't fall apart after one wash?

Oh man, I feel your pain so much right now. I actually remember reading somewhere that a lot of those "organic cotton" fabrics from Instagram ads are just cheap knockoffs mixed with polyester or something that shrinks like crazy. The color fading to grey sounds like the dye wasn't even set properly, which is such a bummer for $200. I've heard a few people mention that Mood Fabrics or even Fabric.com have stuff that holds up better, but you gotta check the reviews for shrinkage. Maybe try washing a swatch first next time, that's what I started doing after a similar disaster with a linen blend.

Did you pre-wash it before cutting into it, @felixb25? That's rough, OP, I've been burned by expensive fabric before too and it really makes you want to never buy online again.
