Pro tip: check your fabric's stretch direction before you cut a whole batch

I just wasted three yards of a really nice jersey knit because I assumed the stretch went with the grain. It didn't, and now the four tops I cut all twist weirdly when worn. The bolt didn't have a salvage edge to guide me, and I was in a rush. Has anyone else run into this with knits from smaller fabric stores?

Nah, that's just part of the learning curve lol. You gotta expect a few mess ups with specialty fabrics.

Remember when we all used to test stretch by pulling on the fabric in the store?

Oh man, I still do this without thinking. My mom yells at me in fabric stores like I'm gonna rip the whole bolt apart or something. I swear half the time I just do it out of habit from back when everything was cheap polyester.
