I've been sewing darts wrong for years and only figured it out after a fitting class
I took a fitting class last month in Austin and the instructor watched me pin a dart on a muslin mockup. She pointed out that I was angling the point way too low, like a full inch below where my bust actually sits. Turns out I had been doing this since I taught myself from YouTube tutorials back in 2020. All those blouses I made had this weird droopy look at the chest and I just thought it was my fabric choice or something. The instructor showed me how to measure from my shoulder point down to the apex and mark it with a pin before even drawing the dart line. Now my tops actually fit without that sad saggy shape. Has anyone else had a basic sewing technique click way later than it should have?

You ever watch a YouTube mechanic show you something and realize you been doing it wrong for years?

That one video that finally made you realize you've been wrong all along, was it something obvious that you can't believe you missed or some weird trick that changed everything?
