I finally showed my mom my sketchbook and she thought it was a menu

She kept asking if the dress designs were appetizers. Now every time she visits, she jokes about ordering the 'floral gown'.

Let's not blow this out of proportion. Your mom mistaking sketches for a menu is just a silly mix-up. She's making jokes about it, so she clearly cares enough to pay attention. Calling a floral gown an appetizer doesn't hurt your art at all. It's a lighthearted story, not a real critique. Honestly, family jokes like that can be kinda nice.
