Bought a $200 fabric swatch book on a whim
It felt like a huge splurge at the time, but having all those textures and colors right there has saved me so many trips to the store. I can finally test color combos for my sketches without guessing. Anyone else find a tool that seemed expensive but ended up being a total game changer?

Two hundred bucks for fabric samples sounds like a lot for a hobby. I guess if you're doing this all the time it makes sense, but for most people a trip to the store is just a normal errand. It feels like a solution for a problem that isn't really that big. Maybe I just don't get it because I'm not that into crafts.

Hold up, that's missing the point completely. For a lot of people, going to the store is the actual problem. Not everyone lives near a good fabric shop, and dragging kids or dealing with traffic turns a simple errand into a huge hassle. Spending that money saves hours of your time and stress. It's not about being super into crafts, it's about valuing your own free time more than a couple hundred bucks.

My buddy spent way too much on a fancy kitchen knife but now he cooks every night.
