Appreciation post: I tried making a dress from a thrifted wool blanket and it completely changed shape after washing.

Found this thick wool blanket at a Goodwill in Austin for $8. Thought it would make a cool, structured winter dress. Drafted a simple shift pattern. After I sewed it, I washed it on cold like the tag said. It shrank and felted up so much it's now a cropped, boxy jacket. Totally different garment. The texture is amazing though, super dense. Learned that pre-washing thrifted wool is non-negotiable, even if the tag says it's safe. Has anyone salvaged a shrunken wool project into something else that actually worked?
