Wasted $200 on a fancy forge last month
Bought one of those expensive propane forges off an instagram ad and the burner wouldn't even hold a steady flame. Anyone else get burned by a too good to be true farrier tool online?

Man that sucks. I got burned on a cheap forge last year too. Ended up just building my own from a kit from Devil's Forge and that thing actually works. The burner on mine is a simple Venturi style and it runs smooth once you dial it in. I had to mess with the gas pressure a bit at first but once I got it right it holds temp like a champ. Might be worth looking into a separate burner assembly if the rest of the forge body is solid.

Holding a steady flame is half the battle with those Instagram forges, but the real hidden problem nobody talks about is the gas tank connection setup. Those cheap Chinese burners often come with a brass fitting that doesn't match standard US propane tank threads, so you end up with a leak that makes a steady flame impossible. Check if the threads on your burner match a standard 20lb tank without an adapter. If they don't, you're fighting a losing battle no matter how much you tweak the airflow. Had a buddy who swapped his entire burner for a $35 bayou classic burner from a turkey fryer kit and his forge went from useless to rock solid. Did you check the connection with soapy water for leaks?
