Finally got that tricky quarter crack on a draft horse in Spokane to hold
It took me three separate visits over two weeks to get the patch and shoe combo right, way longer than I thought. Anyone have a go-to method for those deep lateral cracks that just won't quit?

Three visits for one hoof, that Spokane horse must have a union contract. My go-to method is just staring at it until I get mad and try something new.

Try picking up that rear leg and setting it down a few times before you start working on it. That little reset does wonders for horses that are being stubborn about a sore foot. Also check if they're leaning on you or shifting weight, that usually tells you exactly where the problem is. And don't be afraid to use a hoof jack if you have one handy, takes all the guesswork out of holding the leg steady. I've lost count of how many times I've had to come back for a second or third visit because they're just sore in a weird spot that takes a minute to figure out.
