The old family Bible's spine finally gave out last Tuesday

I carefully used some bookbinding glue and linen thread for a repair, but the leather is so brittle. Has anyone else had luck preserving a book from the 1880s?

Consider a thin layer of acrylic leather conditioner after the glue fully cures.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did and it worked great.

Honestly I wouldn't mess with it too much. Those old book glues and conditioners can do more harm than good if you don't know exactly what you're doing. Sometimes it's better to just leave it alone and handle it carefully.
