Shoutout to the folks at the Tulsa county fair who saved my great-grandpa's pocket watch
I was showing it off at a display table when a kid bumped into me and it flew out of my hands onto the concrete. The crystal cracked and the second hand bent, but a guy running the antique tool booth had a tiny screwdriver set and showed me how to open the case back safely. Has anyone else had a close call like that in a public place and learned a quick fix on the spot?

My uncle fixed a loose chair leg at a bus stop with a zip tie from his bag.

Wow, I read that zip ties are the duct tape of the 21st century.

Agree with you there, I used to roll my eyes at people saying zip ties were some magical fix for everything. But honestly, after seeing one hold a loose chair leg at a bus stop for months without breaking, I gotta admit I was wrong lol. Something about the way they grip and stay tight just makes them work way better than youd think. Now I keep a handful in my glovebox just in case something weird needs a quick fix.
