My great-aunt's silver tea set was completely black when I got it, but now it shines.

I used a paste of baking soda and water, and just gently rubbed it for about an hour. Has anyone else had luck with a different method for tarnished silver?

I used to swear by the foil and baking soda bath, but honestly, your paste method sounds way less messy for smaller pieces.

Did you have to scrub really hard with the paste, or did the tarnish come off pretty easy? I've got a badly tarnished creamer that feels like it might need something stronger, but I'm worried about scratching it.
