Appreciation post: The ugly ceramic rooster I thought was tacky for years

For the longest time I hated this massive ceramic rooster my grandma left me. It sat in my kitchen for 8 years collecting dust until last month when my neighbor noticed the tiny signature on the bottom. She looked it up and turns out it's a local potter from the 1940s who only made 12 of these things. Now I'm the one who was wrong about the heirloom, not her taste.

My grandma left me a set of hand-painted plates that I HATED because they clashed with my modern decor. I almost donated them three times, but then I found out they were from a famous local artist's experimental period and sold one for $400. Sometimes you really DO have to wait a decade to figure out you were the one with the bad taste.

Has anyone else inherited something they disliked, only to realize it was valuable in a way you never expected?
