Tried both a speed square and a combination square for framing
Picked the speed square after using my dad's old combo square for years and honestly I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner. Anyone else find one just clicks better than the other for certain jobs?

Speed square changed my life too, way faster for marking rafters and studs.

Started using a speed square a few years back and man, I was the exact same way. I had this old combo square I thought was fine but once I tried the speed square for layout work it just felt... faster. Like you don't have to flip it around or line up the lip as carefully, you just set it and mark. Especially for cutting rafters or marking 45s, it's so much quicker. I honestly wish I'd switched sooner because I wasted a lot of time fussing with that combo square for no good reason. It's just a tool that makes sense in your hand, you know?

Right? It's like the speed square has some kind of hidden authority that the combo square just can't fake. Makes me feel bad for all those years I spent wrestling with the other one.
