Found out my old tape measure has a marking for studs at 16 inches... took me 7 years to notice

Had a buddy who was remodeling his kitchen and used that marking religiously for like two straight years. He'd built a whole wall thinking he was following the stud pattern perfectly. Turns out his tape measure was just slightly off and every stud was like a quarter inch crooked. Ended up having to rip out half the drywall and redo it. Now he just uses a magnet finder and swears by it.

Marking for studs at 16 inches" sounds like a gimmick honestly. Everyone knows studs can be 16 or 24 inches apart depending on the build, so that marking isn't always right anyway.
