Fixing a stuck zipper with a soap bar saved me $40
My main winter jacket zipper got stuck at the bottom last week and I was ready to toss it. Zippers on heavy coats are a pain and replacements aren't cheap. I remembered some random forum post about using dry bar soap as a lubricant. Rubbed a basic white soap bar right along the teeth on both sides then worked the zipper back and forth. After maybe 30 seconds it slid smooth again like new. That $2 bar of soap just saved me from buying a $40 replacement jacket. Anyone else got a weird lube hack that actually beats store bought stuff?

My friend saved her stuck car window with a potato once, weird but it worked.

Used to think that old potato trick was just an old wives' tale, but a buddy of mine had a window that wouldn't budge last winter, and a raw potato half actually did the trick. He just rubbed the cut side along the rubber seal, and after a minute or two the window started moving again. Never would have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Guess there's a reason people keep passing that one down. Now I keep a potato in my trunk during winter, just in case.
