Can we talk about the day my old drill press basically saved my kitchen table project?

So I was trying to fix a wobbly leg on this solid oak table I got at a yard sale, and I needed to drill a really straight hole for a new dowel. My hand drill just wasn't cutting it, and I was about to give up. Then I remembered my dad's old Craftsman drill press sitting in the corner of my garage, covered in dust. I hadn't used it in maybe five years. I cleaned it up, oiled the column, and gave it a shot. That thing drilled a perfect, dead-straight hole in about ten seconds flat. It made the whole repair look professional, and the table is rock solid now. I felt so silly for almost buying a whole new table over a simple fix. Has anyone else had a forgotten tool come through for them in a big way like that?

That Craftsman was probably just happy to get some use. Hardly a miracle.

Guess it depends on your definition of a miracle... but seeing something old and broken work perfectly again always feels a little magical to me.
