TIL my old way of steaming a client's face for 15 minutes straight is actually too harsh for most skin types now

I switched to a 5 minute max steam after a masterclass in Chicago showed it prevents barrier damage. Anyone else cut their steam time down recently?

Wait, we were supposed to be timing it? I've just been going off vibes, like when my forehead starts to feel like a boiled lobster. Guess my clients from five years ago are lucky they have any skin left at all. That masterclass info makes total sense though, I'm definitely switching to the shorter steam.

Did you see that article about how too much steam can actually damage your skin barrier? I read it last week and it totally changed my view. It said long steam sessions strip away way too many natural oils, leaving skin super dry and irritated. That's probably why your forehead felt like a lobster. The article recommended keeping it under five minutes, just like that masterclass said. It makes so much sense now that I think about it.
