That facial I gave with a bad batch of enzyme powder left a client with red blotches for 3 days

I was in my studio in Portland last Wednesday and used a new jar of pumpkin enzyme from a supplier I'd never tried before, and within 10 minutes her face was angry red. I had to comp the service and send her home with a $35 calming serum to fix it - has anyone else had a product react unexpectedly like that?

Ngl the exact same thing happened to me with a batch of retinol I got off Amazon last year. It's like these companies rush out product without testing it properly on real skin types. I see it all the time now with everything from face masks to laundry detergent - brands chasing the next trend and cutting corners on quality control. You're lucky it was just red blotches for 3 days, I had a client break out in hives from a vitamin C serum that was supposed to be "gentle." The whole beauty industry feels like a gamble these days, you never know what you're actually putting on your face.

Holy crap, retinol off Amazon?! I can't believe you actually bought a chemical exfoliant from a random seller on there, that's terrifying. You are braver than me, I only trust distributors I've vetted in person at trade shows. Those marketplace sellers have zero accountability, they just change their store name when bad reviews roll in. I mean, at least my issue was a professional brand with a rep I can yell at, not some ghost operation. You're lucky your client didn't sue you for malpractice over that hives situation.
