Found a way to stop my gel base coat from pooling in the sidewalls
I was having this issue for months where my gel base coat would just flood the cuticles and sidewalls no matter how thin I applied it. Tried wiping the brush, tried different angles, nothing worked. Then a nail tech at a salon in Portland told me to try pinching the brush a little before application to release some product. I mean it sounds so simple but it actually fixed it. Has anyone else tried this or do you have another trick for gel control?

[...] and here I am pinching my brush like I'm defusing a bomb every time I do my nails. It works great until I get overconfident and try to do it without looking, then I end up with a giant glob of base coat right on my cuticle that looks like I dipped my finger in glue. I've actually started keeping a little paper towel nearby just in case I need to wipe the whole mess off and start over, which happens more often than I'd like to admit. So yeah, pinching the brush helps, but my hand-eye coordination still needs some work apparently.

Man I feel this so hard lol. I keep a whole emergency kit next to my little nail station just for wipe-offs and do-overs. There is nothing worse than thinking you nailed it (pun intended) and then looking down to see polish way up on your skin like you finger painted with a toddler.
