Warning: one piece of feedback killed my overcomplicated VLAN setup
I spent 6 months building a massive VLAN structure with like 40 segments at my office because I thought it looked pro on paper. My network consultant buddy looked at it and just said 'you're overthinking this, simplify or you'll never manage it after you leave.' I cut it down to 8 VLANs with clear naming rules, and now even the junior guys can troubleshoot without calling me. Has anyone else gotten feedback that forced you to strip down your design?

I've seen that 'overcomplicating it' trap before in a networking book I read.

@riverknight is totally right about that book trap - I learned the same lesson when my own network diagrams started looking like abstract art. Honestly simplified it down to just what people actually use and it's been way easier to manage ever since.
