Rant: That data center in Phoenix I toured last week had cable trays that made zero sense
I visited a colo facility near the airport on Tuesday and their overhead cable management was a nightmare. Every tray ran diagonally across the ceiling, like someone just measured by eye or something. How do you even troubleshoot a bundle of Cat6a when it's draped over three different racks? Has anyone else seen layouts that look like they were designed in five minutes?

My buddy works at a place in Mesa and he told me their cable trays look like someone started stringing Christmas lights and just gave up halfway through. He spent a whole afternoon tracing a single fiber line that zigzagged between three different ceiling grids for no reason. The worst part is they had to pull up ceiling tiles just to figure out where things actually went, which is never fun in a dusty colo. He swore the installers must have been paid by the foot or something, because there's no other explanation for that kind of chaos. I told him at least they didnt have to deal with that tangled mess while wearing those stupid white Tyvek suits, but he said they practically lived in them for a week.

Oh man, I once ran cables across a ceiling like a spider having a seizure, total disaster!
