Pro tip: I used to hate MPLS until I saw the traffic shaping results at our Chicago office
For years I was dead set against MPLS for our WAN links because I thought it was too expensive compared to SD-WAN. But after we migrated our main data center in Chicago to a 500 Mbps MPLS circuit last month, the jitter on our VoIP calls dropped from 30ms to under 5ms. The consistent latency is what finally convinced me, even with the $1,200 monthly price tag. Has anyone else had a similar experience where the cost was worth it for predictable performance?

Lol I feel like I need to publicly apologize to my old network engineer now. I spent years arguing that MPLS was just a pricey way to get the same results as a good VPN setup. Then my boss threw me on a project where we had to support real-time video between three offices and I finally shut up and tried it. The difference was honestly embarrassing. My pride took a hit but the call quality was night and day.

Buddy of mine had the same wakeup call after two years of arguing against it.
