Overheard a VAR sales guy say "SD-WAN fixes everything" and almost lost it
Guy was pitching to a mid-size law firm and claimed it would solve their VoIP issues. Their real problem is they're still running a 15 year old flat network with no QoS, SD-WAN won't magically fix that. Has anyone else had to clean up after these oversimplified sales pitches?

Dude, "SD-WAN fixes everything" is such a load. I had a guy tell a small chain of dental offices that SD-WAN would make their ancient internet connection magically fast. Like bro, you still got a T1 line hooked up to a 10 year old router with the firmware never updated. I spent a weekend untangling their mess after the sales guy was long gone. VoIP issues? SD-WAN won't help if your cabling is crumbling and you got no VLANs set up. It's like putting racing tires on a car with no engine and calling it a racecar lmao.

lmao that racing tires analogy is perfect. I walked into a similar setup at a real estate office once where they had this shiny new SD-WAN box but the backbone was still a bonded DSL line from 2012. They were complaining about Zoom calls dropping and the sales guy swore SD-WAN would fix it. I spent a whole day just tracing cables and finding half of them were punched down wrong. You can't slap a new tech label on a foundation made of popsicle sticks and tape.
