Vent: A building manager in Atlanta said our elevator repair was 'just pushing buttons' before we found a sheared pin in the selector.
Has anyone else had to explain the actual mechanical work we do to someone who thinks it's all about the call buttons?

Used to think that too until I saw the guts of one.

Yeah that line about seeing the guts of one hits hard. It's like we build up these ideas in our head about how things work, and then the messy reality totally changes your view. I see this all the time with stuff people take for granted, not just tech. You get shown the actual workings and the whole picture shifts. Makes you question what else you've been wrong about, you know quinn_fox? It's a good reminder to stay curious and not just trust the surface look of things.

Ha, totally get what you're saying. That line about "seeing the guts of one" really does hit different. It's like when you find out how a hot dog is made (you know, the whole "mystery meat" thing). You go from just enjoying the taste to suddenly thinking about every single bite way more carefully. Definitely makes you wonder what other shiny surfaces are hiding some real ugly stuff underneath. Though I guess that's life, right? Just a series of uncomfortable reveals that ruin your favorite snacks.
