Swapped out the old relay board on a Dover in a Philly high-rise and got a door reversal I couldn't clear for two hours.

Turns out the timing parameters are way more sensitive than the manual suggests so I learned to always clone the settings before swapping anything has anyone else gotten burned by factory defaults on a board swap?

Nah, I gotta disagree a bit here. Factory defaults have always worked fine for me as long as I double check the door weight and motor type first.

Does that hold up when you've got a brand new opener with different safety sensor tech though? I've seen plenty of people get burned because they trusted factory defaults on newer models that have infrared or laser sensors that need a little more tweaking. Like those Genie units with the integrated battery backup, the defaults are way off on the force settings and you end up with a door that won't close all the way. Double checking the door weight is smart, but I'd argue you gotta run through the limit and force adjustments manually anyway just to be safe. Saves you a headache later when it's 11pm and the door won't budge.
