Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop buying cheap governor cables
I used to buy those $25 governor cables from online supply shops. Lost two jobs in one week because they snapped during testing in a building downtown. Finally switched to OEM cables at $60 a pop and haven't had a single issue since. Anyone else get burned by bargain bin parts or am I just unlucky?

Hold on a second. Those cables didn't fail just because they were cheap. You probably stretched them too far or didn't support the weight right. I run a small elevator crew and we use aftermarket cables all the time. You just gotta know the load rating and make sure the sheave grooves are clean. You can't blame the part if the setup was wrong. That's like blaming a tire for going flat when you ran over a nail.

Wait. Two jobs in a single week? That's insane.
Man, that's brutal. Those cheap cables are straight up dangerous.
